Commissioned by Vanke, the world’s largest real-estate developer, a prototype unit for a new series of senior residence homes in China was developed.
A gallery typology offers semi-private spaces for social encounter between the residents. The internal layout oscillates between classic compartmentalized layout and open plan, allowing for visual connections that may be required depending on the health of the residents. The kitchens are designed such that they can be outdoor space in summer and indoor space in winter, and that they allow for visual connection between gallery and private balcony.
The bathroom can be assigned to and used by either the master bedroom or the guest bedroom, thus maximising the efficiency of the layout. The layout is wheelchair friendly, and all furniture is designed for easy access.
